Board of Education Members

John McCarthy is a product of the Township of Ocean school system and currently resides in Wayside with his wife, two children and his mother—three generations of Spartans. John is a graduate of Quinnipiac University with a BS in Sociology and The George Washington University with an MBA focused on innovation and management of technology. He is a former Marine Infantry Officer and currently works in acquisitions for one of the largest recyclers in the world.

Gerard Dalton is a graduate of St. Peter's University with a BS in Marketing Management and a MA Ed. in Education, Administration and Supervision. He has been a public school educator in New Jersey since 1992 having served as a teacher, assistant principal, principal and superintendent. Gerard resides in Oakhurst.

Scott Brady joined the Wanamassa community in 2016, where he currently resides with his wife and their son, who is a student in the Ocean Township Schools.  Scott began his career in education in 2009 at an independent charter school in Lower Manhattan and has been an elementary school teacher in Monmouth County since 2012.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Marist University in Political Science and Spanish.  Scott went on to earn a Masters of Education from St. John's University n Elementary General and Special Education.  He also received his curriculum supervisor and principal certification from NJEXCEL.  Scott has served many educational leadership positions in his professional career and he is eager to bring his experiences to the Ocean Township Schools to foster positive change for the students, staff, and community of Ocean Township.

Caitlin Dam, a mother of three, has been a proud resident of Wanamassa since moving to the community with her husband in 2017.  She graduated from Fordham University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and an MBA with a concentration in Management.  A dedicated student-athlete, Caitlin's accomplishments in swimming earned her induction into the Fordham Athletic Hall of Fame.  As a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Caitlin works as a consultant with a Monmouth County-based firm, specializing in software implementation and financial support.

Irene Gilman is a graduate of Monmouth University with a BA in English and Secondary Education. She also has an MA in the Humanities from California State University, Dominguez Hills, along with 30 additional credits in Secondary English course work. Irene has a total of 44 years of Language Arts/English teaching experience with 38 years at Ocean Township High School, five years in the Brielle district and one year of Title I Basic Skills in Charleston, South Carolina. In addition, she was a class advisor for 24 years in Ocean. Upon retirement in 2016, Irene ran for a position on the Ocean Township Board of Education and is serving her second term on the board. She has lived in Oakhurst since 1980 and is proud of her three daughters who went through the Township of Ocean School District.

Amy McGovern attended The University of Alabama and has been a flight attendant for 22 years. She has served on the Board of Education for nine years, chairing numerous committees and serving as president in 2020. Amy has been a committed volunteer through the years with many organizations including Wanamassa and Wayside PTAs, Ocean Township AYFC, Seasit and The Junior League of Monmouth County. Amy has lived in Ocean for over 25 years with her husband Bryan and their two children who both attend Ocean schools.

 Brian Schneider moved to Wanamassa in 2004, where he and his wife, Danielle, have raised their three children. He is a proud graduate of Rutgers Newark University, holding a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance, and he also earned his MBA from Monmouth University. With a career rooted in corporate finance, Brian now serves as the Senior Director of Commercial Analytics and Trade at a leading company in diagnostic imaging.

Jaime A. Stevens is a graduate of Monmouth University with a BA in Elementary Education and an MA in Psychological Counseling.  She is dedicated to fostering inclusive educational opportunities for all students.  Having a background spanning over 20 years in education, Jamie's career began in the classroom as a teacher, then a school counselor, and currently as a Director of Special Education and Counseling.  A proud resident of Wanamassa, Jamie is deeply passionate about supporting both students and educators, with a focus on mental health, personalized learning for kids with special needs, and student well-being.  She aims to support the diverse needs of all learners and having kids reach their full potential.

GraceAnne Talarico holds an MBA in Finance and Accounting, an MA in Counseling Psychology and a BA in Psychology and Sociology. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor. GraceAnne spent many years of her career working in psychiatric emergency services and owns her own business providing advocacy, SEL school presentations and counseling services to children/teens and families. She currently serves as treasurer for a local nonprofit that provides family support services and is a disaster response crisis counselor for Monmouth County.  She has lived in Ocean since 2005 with her husband and has one child who attended the Ocean Township School District.
